TECHIE GEEK, I AM NOT

so today i discovered Pinterest. opened a whole new world. all my virtual thoughts and collections can be kept in one little vault and categorized and then shared! genius. seriously genius. my stance on the iPhone craze has always been "eh, i would probably like it if i had one but i like the $500 in my checking account more." however today...today i want one. just think of all the virtual pins i can have. blows the mind.

i know i'm the last creature crawling the planet to discover it so excuse my ignorance. but please do follow my fabulous collections.

FEELING LAMPY

y'all remember a few posts back when i demonstrated what a big difference a little fabric can make on a regular unleaded boring lampshade.

saw this tutorial that was fab-o-licious (in a good way, not a Teresa Guidice way). Check it.

THE ECLECTIC SLIDE

the Pantone 2012 color scheme was just announced

me likey.

so how does this translate to your nursery? allow me to explain.

typically, unexpected combinations are what sparks interest. like red & pink. or orange & well, anything. or chartreuse & apple green. so looking at this pallete my favorite picks are the Tango, Chartreuse, Rhapsody & Pink Flambe (who wouldn't like a color with the name "Flambe"?!). To neutralize a bit, throw in the Titanium & French Roast.

POSH MINI'S

my mother loves the phrase "little people" in reference to
children (Note: Maaaartha is not known for her political correctness, mind you).
but when I look at the new trend to scale classic design pieces into pint size.... i wonder if she's on to something? i mean, what baby doesn't instantly look more adorable in a mini-Bertoia?

IT'S A SOFA...NOT A COUCH

i am that rare designer that honestly believes in function before beauty, however this also makes me that designer who will fixate over a function problem for days on end trying to find an aesthetically pleasing solution because i swear it's out there. having prefaced with that, obviously i believe comfort and scale are priorities in selecting a sofa. please note that i did not say comfort = overstuffed chenille, microsuede or movable pleather. a finely shaped, well made NON-RECLINING sofa can actually be kid friendly, stain resistant and enjoyable to pile on for a family screening of Madea Goes to Jail.

not the end all be all bible of sofas but a good starting point without a bunch of design speak hubbub
